Developing Student Affairs as a Profession in Africa

This article discusses the nature of professionalization student affairs and services (SAS) in Africa by analyzing discourses evident legitimated through Journal Student Affairs (JSAA). The analysis is driven three research questions: What extent journal’s engagement with terms profession, professionalism, professional, professionalization? How are these used journal how do uses relate to social justice imperative SAS? Overall, shows that discourse JSAA draws strongly on notions certain professional traits high-level knowledge skills must be possessed SAS personnel for field professionalized. Furthermore, reflects a stronger than as profession. Finally, this considers opportunities scholarship development
